Pinterest was a no-brainer for OEA, as its main demographic matched Pinterest’s: women, 30-49, college graduates. The challenge was how to effectively use a platform best known for recipe and craft boards. Our research found that teachers were already using Pinterest for classroom decorating ideas, lesson plans, and behavior management tips. My strategy was to use offer our members the type of content they were already pinning to grow the community. I grew the OEA Pinterest page to include 22 boards and eventually the strategy expanded to include issue boards with links back to the OEA site to take action.
